The rare and unique shiva shell is naturally made. No two shells are alike.
Length 18". 49-strand braided wire plated in silver. Shells vary with most around the size of a nickle.
This high polished shell is the operculum (also known as shiva) of a seashell. The operculum is like a foot and serves as a sort of trapdoor to close the mouth of the shell when the soft part of the animal is retracted. It is found on beaches throughout the pacific, no live shells are used to make them.
