Mokoliʻi Rise

Named after Mokoliʻi, the rugged islet off Oʻahu’s coast, these earrings blend earthy tones of red, black, and cream to reflect its lava-formed cliffs and the legend of the moʻo (lizard) whose body became stone.

In his early teens, Leighton began making surfboards. This evolved into resin-based art and jewelry. 'Ear Art,' his first jewelry collection, was made from surfboard resin. That collection includes this piece. Leighton stopped making surfboard resin jewelry in the early 1990s and will not be making pieces like this again.
