Holiday Giving - Protecting our Coral Reefs

photo artwork by Leighton Lam

Now through January 1st, 50% of every website purchase will be donated directly to a local non-profit focused on protecting the coral reef along the Kona Coast.

Hawaii's coral reefs have faced threats from pollution, climate change and over-fishing for many years. At Leighton Lam Designs the marine landscape has been a source of art and jewelry creation for many years. Just as we create jewelry inspired from the coral reefs, tourists and locals enjoy snorkeling, swimming and spending time in Hawaii's beautiful waters. Protecting our coral reefs is a cause we strongly identify with.

The coral reef protecting Hawai‘i Island’s Kona Coast is one of the longest contiguous reefs in the state, supporting an abundance of unique corals and fish –and the health of the region’s people, economy, culture and lifestyle. The donation will go directly to research, community education, reef restoration and creating preserves along this 45 mile stretch of Kona coastline.

If you have stayed at one of the resorts along the Kona Coast or visited the many beaches, you have probably enjoyed this wonderful reef ecosystem. Thank you for your help in protecting it.
